Types Of Travel And Their Uses
Travel is the conveyance of individuals between different distant geographical areas. Travel can generally be one way, usually around a single route, or between more than one points, and is usually done by car, bike, foot, plane, train, boat or other moving means. Most travel is done by air; trains are still another common mode of travel for most people, and boats are not too far behind. The automobile is the most common means of travel, as it is often the easiest to get around by, but can also be dangerous if traveling at high speeds or in an unfamiliar area. Boats, on the other hand, have their own set of advantages and disadvantages.
Tourism is defined as the process of generating revenue from visitors visiting different places. By tourism, we mean to include in this definition the income generated by various tourist attractions in a country in terms of admissions, tourism income and various other related services. It is a very interesting subject, which I shall discuss here briefly, in order to let us know what kind of a field tourism can be. Basically it can be divided into two fields: business tourism, in which the main purpose of visiting a place is for business reasons, and educational tourism, which refers to visiting mainly for education or holiday purposes.
Business tourism refers to all those activities which require travel in order to reach a certain destination, such as business meetings, conferences, exhibitions, trade fairs etc. Educational tourism, on the other hand, refers to all those activities, which require travel for information purposes, such as studying in a foreign country, travelling to a museum, learning abroad etc. So, now you know the basics of what travel covers, let us move on to some specific examples of travel:
